While Lagos began in 1977, it wasn't until a chance meeting between founder Stephen Lagos and artist Ann King at a New York trade show in 1983 that the company created a uniquely modern style of jewellery that women went crazy over. Steven Lagos had learned the art of jewellery making from his Russian mentor. His first lessons are still very much alive in his work today--the essentials of quality materials and old-world craftsmanship techniques. There are eight Lagos jewellery collections: Delta, Pave, Glacier, Caviar, Circle Game, Tear Drop, Diamonds and Caviar, and Deco. Each collection is unique--some feature semi-precious gemstones, others use intricate, innovative detail. Some of the pieces are created by Steven and Ann individually; others are a blend of their artistic skills. The Lagos Caviar collection was one of the first collaborative efforts between Steven and Ann. The Caviar collection still offered the signature style and class that consumers had come to love about Lagos jewellery, only this time the company tried to appeal to a larger audience through a less expensive price tag. They used a combination of silver and gold, beads and gemstones. The collection was a success and has been said to have contributed to the bridge movement in jewelry. Lagos jewellery incorporates a wide variety of semi-precious stones. Blue topaz, citrine, amethyst, peridot and many other vibrant stones lend vibrant color to any outfit. Each of the Lagos collections features earrings, bracelets, rings, necklaces, pins and pendants, so there's plenty to choose from.
